No Ordinary Halloween

Every year at Halloween the houses on a street nearby host a series of creative decorations, mostly featuring life-sized plastic skeletons. It’s a well-known local phenomenon, a must-see event attracting many passers-by and so many cars that there’s sometimes a traffic jam in this quiet spot. These Halloween decorations are a generous offering to the community by a group of fun-loving neighbors. During a stay-at-home fall, an outdoor, distanced “event” is a great destination and more appreciated than ever.
In past years, the crowds began to show up well before the holiday and continued until Halloween night, when costumed kids by the dozens roamed the sidewalks. One homeowner thinks he gave out a few hundred pieces of candy last year. This year the skeletons reflect the issues around us and remind us that it’s 2020, no ordinary year, and no ordinary Halloween.
No ordinary Halloween.
